What if I don't attend Highlands?
Great question! This event is a "congregational renewal event" which means we have designed it with Highlands United Church in mind in order to strengthen our relationships and work on issues particularly specific to our community. We would, however, LOVE to see you at the opening event on Friday night featuring Bishop Yvette Founder, or at our Sunday morning worship at 10am featuring Rev. Dr. John Pentland. There is no need to register to attend either of these events, but an opportunity to make an offering will be provided.
Can I still come if I'm not free for the whole weekend?
OF COURSE! Trust us, we know life can be busy — that's why we're bringing this retreat to you, right here! We want you to join us for as much of the weekend as you can, even if that's just the fire performance and Sunday morning worship. Pay what you think is fair on the registration scale and contact us if you have any further concerns.
What about my baby/ children/ youth?
We don't want anyone left out of this event. If you have a child under 4 please contact us directly so we can arrange nursery care for the duration of your participation. There will be a separate children's program on Saturday led by the Highlands Summer staff. Children can be expected to participate in theme-appropriate activities, workshops and stations. Youth grades 8 and up are invited to participate in the weekend as adults. They may register for any of the workshops that interest them. Register all children & youth as you register yourself and more specific details will be sent soon!
Are there any hidden costs?
Your registration fee will cover your meals, snacks, workshops*, key notes, and any other activities that take place over the weekend. On Friday evening we will have a reception and this will include a cash wine bar ($5/glass). Also note, the *Spirituality of Wine workshop will have a $10 cost associated with the wine tasting fee.
